Crane Building with 80-ton Bridge Cranes

This 60,000 sf pre-engineered CBC steel building is 60’ x 100’  and is one of three buildings located within the Vancouver shipyards. It is 70’-0” high and is designed for 80-ton bridge cranes, and has 80’x50’ vertical lift fabric doors at both ends and one smaller fabric door on one side. Two rows of translucent wall panels along the length of each side provide natural light. Large openings in both sidewalls necessitated jack beams to carry both main frames and crane runways across three frame lines.

This building is placed next to a smaller, existing shop and includes a 27’ wide cantilevered canopy to manage the additional snow drift loads this new structure would have imposed on the existing building.
