Recreational Open-Air Canopy Structure

The City of Chico Bocce Ball Complex features a striking recreational shade structure. The canopy spans 9,680 sf and uses a single slope framing system topped with Forest Green R-Panel roofing. Its structural steel and roof trim are finished in Aztec Blue.

This open-air structure provides coverage for four regulation-size bocce ball courts, ensuring comfort during Chico’s warm months. The courts were developed by the Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD) as part of a broader initiative to enhance community recreation.

Beyond the courts, the complex includes ADA-accessible pathways, benches, and landscaped areas, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for players of all ages and abilities. By improving usability and comfort, the shade structure supports CARD’s mission to promote active lifestyles and foster community engagement.
