Sorenson Engineering
Commercial Office with IMP Building Envelope & Full Mezzanines
As part of a multiphase project for Sorenson Engineering, this building is a 16,920 sf two-story structure delivering premium office space and cafeteria facilities. Located in one of the country’s most challenging seismic environments, the project demonstrates how PEMBs can meet demanding performance requirements while delivering architectural refinement. The structure is comprised of two gable symmetrical structures with full mezzanines, and complimented with an open-wall covered lean-to. A transverse partition wall provides structural and spatial versatility, while a groundfloor cafeteria with exterior seating enhances the occupant experience.
To match existing structures on the campus, the exterior is clad with Insulated Metal Wall Panels in Pearl Gray, creating a clean, professional aesthetic while delivering superior thermal performance. The roof also utilizes Insulated Metal Panels in Slate Gray and completes the building envelope. Architecturally, the building distinguishes itself through a series of thoughtful design elements: parapet walls accented with bold red trim, architectural fins that add visual depth and dimension to the façade, and numerous windows throughout that fill the interior with natural light. Furthermore, the building was purposefully designed to accommodate future expansion—ensuring lasting value for its owners and the surrounding community.
